Laurel Grove Volunteer Fire-Rescue is located in south-eastern Pittsylvania County, 12 miles east of Danville in Sutherlin, Virginia. Our department provides fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to the citizens of southeastern Pittsylvania County and southwestern Halifax County. This 74 square mile area includes Kentuck and Keeling which we provide primary rescue operations and emergency medical transport, as well as secondary fire protection.
Laurel Grove is a 100% volunteer, non-profit fire-rescue organization. We provide fire suppression and rescue operations, as well as basic and advanced life support through our emergency response program. We also provide free public fire and EMS education through department Open Houses and scheduled events at churches, schools, and civic organizations. Laurel Grove protects approximately 3200 citizens 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This number is increased to approximately 8000 during school hours.
Laurel Grove Volunteer Fire-Rescue operates off of funds from the citizens we serve. These donations are tax-deductible and are used to purchase fire and EMS supplies, emergency vehicles, and maintenance of our fire station. We encourage each citizen to donate at least $30 a year to help keep your community’s fire department operating. For just $2.50 a month, you could make a difference in the public safety of your community.
We would like to say “Thank You” to everyone who supports our department. Whether it is through financial donations or a donation of your time or talent, our department appreciates everything our community has done and will continue to do for us.
